UNESCO heritage sites in the Czech Republic

The Czech lands have a rich and eventful history. Various rulers who have reigned here not only ordered castles to be built and decorated, churches erected and monasteries founded, but they also influenced the overall architectural design of the cities. No fewer than twelve of these sites have already been listed in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage since 1992, while yet ten others have submitted their candidacy to enter this exclusive club.

Inscription in the World Heritage List is a guarantee of the values of a given site. This seal of approval is understood by all those who like traveling and learning about foreign lands. The sites are guaranteed on the basis of a strict assessment and in the name of the international community. Therefore, people know if they visit such a site they are visiting a place definitely worth seeing.
