With more castles and mansions per square mile than any other place in the world, the Czech Republic is also a land of beautiful rivers and lakes, rolling hills, verdant forests, colorful fields and fragrant meadows. There are so many historical sites scattered across the country that you couldn't see them all in a year, let alone 9 days. However, the faster you travel, the more you see. And riding a bike gives you a nice close-up look at the countryside.
Biking in the Czech Republic has become extremely popular since the fall of the Communist regime. The plentiful biking trails, low-traffic country roads, rolling terrain and pleasant climate all make for an ideal biking destination. Czechs themselves are passionate bikers and we are sure to meet many on our trip.
The daily rides are designed to be accessible. They average about 30-35 miles, most of the time level and always with a great scenic backdrop. The roads were carefully chosen to be not only scenic, but also safe. We have decided to use only third- or second-class roads with little or no traffic. Overall, the trip is a wonderful experience, providing fascinating insights about the country, its people, and their cultural heritage.
