ITINERARY

DAY 1: Arrival in Budapest, Hungary, City Tour

Total walk: 3-hour city walk
Total drive: 1 hour

Individual arrival in Budapest, hotel check-in. Guided tour of Buda and Pest. Visiting the Heroes’ Square in the very heart of the Pest, crossing the river Danube to the historically richer part of Buda visiting Gellért Hill, the Castle, the 13th century Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion.

Overnight in 3-4* Hotel in Budapest city center

 

DAY 2: Budapest city tour/ transfer to Slovakia

Total walk: Approx. 2 hours, level 1-2
Total drive: Approx. 2,5 hours

Morning ride to Visegrad - castle perched above Danube, castle visit and scenic walk. We continue to Estergom - home of the largest cathedral in Hungary. Afternoon ride to UNESCO inscribed town of Banska Stiavnica. Walk to admire jewels of town’s architecture.

DAY 3: Walk in Stiavnicke Hills

Total walk: Approx. 4 hours, 12 km + 3 optional km/7.5 + 2 optional miles, level 2
Total drive: Approx. 30 minutes

Moderate walk trhough the Stiavnicke Hills offering a unique view of the historical town and nature of this region. Picnic lunch served in a beautiful environment of one of many lakes in the neighborhood. Bus ride back to the hotel. Free afternoon or optional walk to the Calvary hill with 18th century chapels and Stations of the Cross.

DAY 4: Low Tatra National Park

Total walk: Approx. 2 hours, 8 km/5 miles, level 2
Total drive: Aprox. 3 hours

Morning ride to the National Park of Low Tatra Mountains to enjoy walk passing several Slovak summer sheep farms – salas. After picnic break near Bystrianska cave transfer to Levoca - another UNESCO inscribed site.

DAY 5: Walk around Spisský Castle and Levoca Hill

Total walk: Approx. 4 hours, 11 km/7 miles, level 2
Total drive: Approx. 1 hour

Morning tour of Levoca’s historical town center – the famous middle-aged walled merchant town. We will admire famous gothic St. James Church with the magnificent wooden altar, tallest in the world. Later on bus drive to Spisky Castle ruins, one of the largest castles in Central Europe. Afternoon walk from the castle down through Spisska Kapitula and followed by easy stroll through Levoca Hills back down to Levoca.

DAY 6: Walk in the High Tatra National Park

Total walk: Approx. 3H, 10 km/6 miles, level 2
Total drive: Approx. 2 hours

A day long trip to fully enjoy the immensing splendor of the High Tatra Mountains (the highest range in Slovakia - country’s top Gerlachovsky Peak 8700 ft) with the crystal clean rivers, lakes, and large diversity of fauna and flora.

DAY 7: Transfer to Kraków (Poland)

Total Walk: Approx. 3 hours, CITY WALK
Total Driving: Approx. 3 hours

Morning transfer to royal city of Krakow, followed by guided tour around the historical center. Walk through the Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest universities of Europe, crossing famous Jewish Quarter, visiting the Wawel Castle, the Old Town and the Market Square. Farewell dinner.

DAY 8: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Krakow airport for your departure flight.
